Post 1991 Restoration Notes |
At 97,146mi, engine was completely rebuilt. Current Odometer reading: 01093mi (101093mi) and yes, that's less than 4,000mi on the rebuilt motor!
Engine rebuilt with 0.020 oversized pistons, cams reground to Mini Cooper-S specs, and crank has been micro-polished. Stainless steel exhaust valves allow the car to run great on unleaded 91 octane fuel. Steering wheel is wood rimmed Moto-Lita, a true upgrade from the period. All gauges work as do the interior turn signal indicators and lever. Includes wire wheel spare with tire. Exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe upgraded to more reliable 3 bolt flange. Sway bar added to front. |
What's Left to Achieve Pefection? |
In the spirit of full disclosure, here is a list of "flaws" that when fixed, I feel will bring this car to the highest standards:
-paint chip on front of bonnet -screw holes for door mirrors still exist -slight bubbling under paint on driver side cowl side panel -slight bubbling under a hood button -bumpers need refinishing -slight (hard to see) cracks in paint on bonnet -car jack missing 1 piece -reverse lights do not work |
